Most of us are privileged enough to pad ourselves from the immediate consequences of climate change, so its reality remains an abstract and intangible problem. A gap persists between intellectual knowledge and the kind of emotional connection that inspires action. My research addresses this gap.
Between Earth and Atmosphere is a field guide to climate change in the cloud forest. The narrative follows Utah State University Ph.D. ecology student Jessica Murray, who studies the canopy ecosystem of Monteverde, Costa Rica. Jessica uses sensors and datasets to quantify an intricate network of plants, animals, and microorganisms, and her research has global implications. My goal is to connect a wider audience to that research. I hope my work helps others become more aware of their own dependence on the environment and more compassionate towards its components.
